BeeJive
BeeJive (sometime’s refered to as JiveTalk) has made a pretty slick mobile instant messanging client for the Windows Mobile 6+. It supports a wide variety of chat protocols and sports a easy to use interface that works well even on smaller screens (like the Blackjack II’s). I’ve replaced Palringo with BeeJive.. They’re very similar applications but BeeJive makes alittle better use of the screen real estate and I like how it notifies of new instant messages/updates to instant message conversations in the background.
BeeJive is currently FREE for Windows Mobile 6.x because its in beta — if/when BeeJive costs money I will most definitely switch back to Palringo.

BeeJive supports:
- AIM / iChat
- MSN / Windows Live
- Yahoo!
- GoogleTalk
- ICQ
- Jabber
- MySpace
Much like Palringo (and most other mobile instant messanger clients) this application is a battery hog and will probably cut your battery life in half if leave it running in the background … So make sure to exit the program when you’re done using it!

I’ve been using my beta for well over 30 days. I think the 30 day trial applies to the iphone and blackberry releases. Eventually im guessing BeeJive for Windows Mobile will be a commercial product, but while its in beta its appears to be free… ? Where did you see the 30 day trial information?

so does it take up data or is it completely free

sgeezy, Beejive uses data; you probably want an unlimited data plan if youre going to use BeeJive (or any other Instant Messanger) on your Blackjack II

if im logged in on AIM and Yahoo at the same time how do i switch from one to the other buddy list?
December 2nd, 2008 at 10:00 pm
p11skater, All your contacts will show up in the single buddy list. I have my contacts set to show up alphabetically and not be separated by service type (AIM/Yahoo) .. In my screenshot, “aplan” and “debaser” are GoogleTalk contacts, and “lord mi” is an AIM contact.

yeah, i kinda figured out that no one on my yahoo was online LOL, so i havent yet seen that. but i wondered if that was the case. overall i like it, except i cant figure out how to turn off sound… ive been having a good time messing with registries and customizing things, so i may just go get rid of them

hey thanks for this! I don’t know if it’s work $20 when I never hit my txt msg limit but will definitely enjoy it in beta. it’s so pretty! LOL
@jake28 - i like nimbuzz but it’s one of those apps that you need to launch the java app to run so i don’t use it on my bjii. same reason i don’t use the gmail app from google. i prefer apps that run independently. do you have a tweak that’ll let that happen?
December 8th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
ruthe - agreed. when it goes commercial im going to switch batch to Palringo. I actually really like Palringo’s “send a picture” feature that integrates with the Blackjack II’s camera. I do prefer BeeJive’s look and how they notify you that you have new messages in conversations - very noticeable!

was just on their website and it looks like they have stopped production on the WinMo version so it will be in beta “as is” indefinitely. See except below. . . I GUESS that’s good news for now. . .
BeejiveIM for Windows Mobile 6 Proffesional & Standard Edition is in permanent beta. We will not be releasing a production version of BeejiveIM for Windows Mobile 6 and offer the software “as is”

ruthe - wow! thats great news — i havent had any problems with my beta, so if it stays free im a happy camper!

I’m a Blackjack 2 newbie and am confused about how to install BeeJive. It says to use File Explorer and go to /application data/home and add a given line of commands to my profile xml files. I can get to the /application data/home menu, but I dont understand what to do from there.
Should I just do the CAB file instead? If I do, then how will I access BeeJive?

ebajane, definitely use the CAB file to install BeeJive.. After you’ve installed the CAB file, a shortcut to BeeJive will be added to your Programs list. Simply click on the Beejive shortcut and follow the onscreen directions. (99% of the time you will want to use a CAB file to install a program when possible — when it doubt, use the CAB)
