SPBattMet (Battery Meter)
Direct Download (Download Page)
After installing Windows Mobile 6.1 I decided to give Saman’s Smartphone Battery Meter another try. This battery meter puts a very thin battery meter at the very top of the screen. It gives you a really good idea how much batter life you have, much better than the default 4 bar battery meter that is default.
For some reason I didn’t like this battery meter as much when I was running Windows Mobile 6.0 - I think because it made the top icon bar feel too cramped.
When installing you may be notified that “this program was developed for a previous version of windows”. This is OK, continue installing.
After installing, restart your Windows Mobile Smartphone.

(The battery bar is kind of hard to see in this picture, it’s much mroe visible on a smartphone screen)

treehugger, I’ve updated the post — you have to restart your phone after installing.

i dont like it its not worth it

yeah i would maybe like it better if the bar didnt change to green after you unplug it from your charger, i have a blur background so i wish it stayed blue…i think i’ll just stick to holding down the CV button

I just installed it, looks great but on my blackjack the default has 4 bars..( i have the canadian version)

treehugger - yeah, maybe the reason i like it better with WM6.1 is with WM6.1 i use a green background — with WM6.0 i used the themes on this site which were more grey/blue based, so it looked slightly out of place. I like having it though, pressing CV is just annoying enough where I wont do it.

david- yeah i understand what you mean
pukka- i have the 4 bar indicator too but i have the american version. i thoughtthere were 4 bars for everyone

Thanks for the post, David. I’ve been looking for more software to add to my BJII. (Tried and gave up on the 6.1 upgrade)
I use Facade Black with the meter and it’s not too obtrusive. Definitely a keeper.

how accurate is the meter, i’ve heard people say it shows a different level than the power management screen of the phone

I dont normally go into the “Power Management” screen - but i think its fairly accurate. Ill try to keep a closer eye and let you know if i find any discrepancies.

I like the theme you are using…what is it?

apples, its Windows Mobile 6.1 .. Im using the “Sliding Panel Media” Home screen layout.

After some use of the program, I’ve seen that the accuracy of the meter is laughable. It is simply four sections of the green bar, yellow when there’s only one to signify a low battery. It is basically a skinnier version of the battery meter that comes default shown on the upper right.
This inaccuracy alone has sadly made me uninstall the program. But Facade’s battery meters work very well. I’m back to that.

David,
Where can I go to upgrade to 6.1?
October 21st, 2008 at 4:00 pm
ok - you guys might be right that this thing sucks and doesnt give anymore accuracy than the default 4-bar battery meter. Power Mangement shows me about 80% charged, but SPBattMet shows me at 100% charged… im guessing when i hit 75% charged SPBattMet will reflect the new amount.
I cant believe i never noticed this.. i thought it was so cool (and assumed it was pulling off the Power Managerment screen’s data).. bleh. hrm - i might have to yank this post.

I don’t think it should necessarily be removed, as all of the programs on this site, whether or not I use them all, are useful for at least someone. It’s a neat toy and someone may want it down the line. It’s just not for everyone.

Where would i get farcade’s battery meter?
October 22nd, 2008 at 5:07 pm
Speaking of the battery, mine seems to drain much quicker since upgrading to WM6.1. I used to only have to recharge every 3 days and now it’s every single day, at least. Anyone else notice this?
Other then this, my upgrade went very well, so I tend to think this is expected.

good review, but i’ll stick with good ol smart monitor to show me the percentage of both my signal and battery

hello people I just registered as you can see. Anywho I just installed this and I didnt care for it too much. On my screen it looked like my color was off. Props to the person who made this program but it’s just not for me.

What is that cool theme?
October 25th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
samwise,
The theme in the screenshot is the default Windows Mobile 6.1 theme.

2 things party people, I do belive that WM6.1 does us up that battery faster than 6.0.
The other thing is what is this other ‘farcade’s battery meter’ i hear about and where can i check it out at?
Thanks David for all your hard work.

For whatever reason, I’m no longer having the battery problem with WM6.1. It only lasted a few days and then everything went back to normal. I think I may have unknowingly had it constantly syncing with my desktop using my bluetooth adapter, but I’m really not sure. Anyway, it’s working fine now.

Alternatively, you could install the CHome Configurator (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393104), enable the Battery panel under Settings & you would see the battery status. I like the Sliding Panel with Media Home screen better & this gives me another option for checking the battery power status.
