Alpha-Dial Cheat Sheet

Alpha-Dial Cheat Sheet

Download

One incredibly annoying thing about my Windows Mobile Smartphone is its quite difficult to dial Alpha-phone numbers (ex. 1-800-EAT-CAKE or 1-800-CALL-ATT) .. The Blackjack’s number-pad doesn’t come with the number-to-letter translation like most non-smartphones do. This isn’t something that you generally use on a daily basis, but it sure helps out in a pinch.

MyBlackjack2.com user Terry found a solution to this problem by modifying the image at the top of call screen:

Alpha-Dial Cheat Sheet

This is a very simple yet effective solution. I’ve packaged up Terry’s image into a CAB file for easy install/uninstall.

Prior to installing make sure you’ve application unlocked your Windows Mobile Smartphone.

After installing/uninstalling you must restart your Windows Mobile Smartphone.

If you would refer an application for your phone that will convert Alpha to Numeric on the fly, check out:

I think its more convenient to use the cheat sheet than to open a program that will automatically covert the phone number for me, but to each his own.

Speakerphone Always-on

Update: Version 1.05 is now available; use the above download link.

The Speakerphone always-on hack automatically turns your Windows Mobile Smartphone’s speakerphone on when you receive or place a call.

This is great for those people that like to move their phone between like mouth and ear while talking (you know the people im talking about!)

Notes:

  • The CAB installs a shortcut in your Start Up folder; if you restart your Windows Mobile Smartphone after installing this CAB, the Speakerphone Always-on hack will be automatically started.
  • You have to stop the program from the task manager.

Thanks to OLDSAP for creating this application/hack, and thanks to Soundoctor for telling me about it!
