Disable Startup And Shutdown Animations/Sounds
Remove those annoying AT&T branded startup and shotdown animations with the swooshing noise!
- Application unlock your phone (run the MoDaCo GPS Hack or SDA Application Unlocker)
- Copy and Install the CAB file to your Windows Mobile 6 Smartphone.
- To uninstall this Hack, go to Settings > Remove Programs, and remove the entry labeled “Disable Startup and Shutdown Animations”
Note: Don’t be alarmed! When you power-off your Blackjack 2 using this hack, it looks like the screen just freezes. It takes 10-20 seconds for the phone to power down.

Aloha…
I just read a tip elsewhere (MobileGadgetNews) that just the sound can be turned off in the System sound profile. I don’t know yet what other sounds may be affected, but at the moment the silence is golden. : )
Settings –> Profiles –> Normal (select only; do not click) –> Menu –> Edit –> Scroll to the very bottom to System sound volume, and turn it off.

Upon further use, I’m discovering other system sounds are shut off that I probably want to keep on, such as the warning tone when I’m about to clear the browser cache. Oh well, it was sweet while it lasted.

If your just interested in turning off the startup and shutdown sounds you can use the same hack you use to shutoff the camera noises. The files you need to replace at the start.wav and the stop.wav in the windows directory.

kewlrobd, How did you change the windows files? I did the camera hack which worked and tried to change the start and stop wave files and windows won’t let me modify them. I have a registry editor but don’t know where to look to change permissions. I ran SDA unlock and the Modaco GPS unlock previously. I have just upgraded this week to the wm6.1 and have been applying all the good hacks. Any help would be appreciated. Anyone else reading this and knowing how feel free to help me if you can.

kewlrobd, I figured it out. Just had to make a blank wav file named start and stop and copy to the windows directory. Silence is bliss! I don’t recommend deleting the OemAnimationsDll.dll unless you don’t want the splash screens either.

Great hack for WM 6, one issue in 6.1.
You cannot send a text with this installed. The button lights up showing you pushed it but nothing happens.

Interesting – i have this installed on my WM6.1 Blackjack II and I can send Text/SMS/MMS no problem. Is anyone else having problems with this hack on WM61.?
kyhydro, have you tried uninstalling this hack, restarting your Blackjack II and re-installing the hack?

ya i was freaking out when i first used this, but after i read the post i noticed the 20 sec delay. this is really nice because the wifey sleeps early and i hated resetting my phone, but i can now!!!! and no problems with texting

i personally just downloaded a blank wav file, renamed it start and stop and uploaded it to my win dir. Works great!

I have a blank start.wav and stop.wav file on my computer. Getting error message: “file could not be placed on device. You do not have permission to create this item”. Any tips on how to get permission?

Nevermind. I saved the files to my storage card, found the file on my phone, clicked Menu -> Edit -> Move and moved it t the Windows Registry. It asked if I wanted to replace existing file and selected yes. My blank start and stop files are 4 sec. long (same as default files) so there is no delay in shutdown and startup, only silence!!

i jus installed this on my samsung jack i367 but now my screen wont come up at all but stiill works anyway i can uninstall this using my pc??
